About the instructor

Dr. Maged Ossama

Clinical and Sports Nutrition Specialist

Dr. Maged Ossama is the head of the clinical nutrition department at the General Navy Military Hospital since 2016. In 2018, he joined the AlexKnee Center team as
their Nutrition Specialist. He has been graduated from the Faculty of Medicine,
Alexandria University in 2012. After that, he got his Master's Degree in public health majoring in nutrition from the High Institute of Public Health in 2017. As a
physician and a former athlete, he knows how much nutrition is important for both health and athletic performance. Studying the dietary supplements and
the possibility of contamination and their impact on health and performance is his area of interest

Objectives of Basics of Sports Nutrition Course

This course offers an overview of the roles nutrient selection, and timing play in supporting and improving human physical performance.
Emphasis will be placed on applying evidence-based strategies and recommendations according to the latest guidelines. In addition, current controversies within the field will be explored.

The different types of energy systems and the basic needs of macro- and micronutrients and fluids for athletes.
Utilize the knowledge of sports nutrition, based on the demands and needs of different forms of physical activity.
