Healthy Suhoor Meals for Children
The holy month of Ramadan provides us with an immense dose of faith and spirituality, and also gives us special memories engraved in our memory about the family gathering of young and old around the Iftar and Suhoor meals. We rejoice greatly if a young child decides to join us in fasting; here, all mothers look for suitable and balanced Suhoor meals for them, in order to maintain their health so that it is not adversely affected by fasting. Also, the child must get enough sleep, as it is not normal to keep your child awake until dawn to eat Suhoor; rather, they should sleep and then be awakened to eat the meal.
Healthy Suhoor Meals for Children
To prepare a healthy Suhoor for children in Ramadan, we have provided you with some suitable and healthy meals for them, as follows:
- Fluids: Fluids are very important in the Suhoor meal for children, and they must consume a sufficient amount of them so as not to suffer from dehydration during the fasting period. Therefore, you should provide them with juices and water appropriately, and you can also offer Hibiscus and milk so that the child gets enough fluids.
- Yogurt: You must make a cup of yogurt a constant at your child's Suhoor meal, because it is very beneficial for the body. You can diversify it by adding fruit pieces, blending it with fruits in an electric blender, or adding honey so the child doesn't get bored throughout the month.
- Fava Beans (Foul): It should always be available on the Suhoor table because it remains in the stomach for long hours, giving the child a sense of fullness throughout the day. You can serve it in several ways as we are accustomed; peppers, tomatoes, or tahini can be added to the bean dish to change its flavor so children don't get bored of its taste, and it can be blended to remove its skins if children do not prefer them.
- Whole Grains: Whole grains are suitable foods rich in beneficial elements for the body, so they should be a main dish on the children's Suhoor table, such as oats, nuts, dried fruits, figs, dried apricots, and dates.
- Vegetables and Fruits: The child should consume vegetables and fruits at the Suhoor meal constantly, especially those rich in fiber which reduce the feeling of thirst, such as cucumbers and bananas.
