The nursing profession is considered one of the medical professions that we cannot dispense with, because it has great importance and plays a major role in saving human lives. A male or female nurse performs many tasks, and among these tasks are:

• Providing healthcare to the patient by giving the patient medications in accurate doses and at times specified by the treating physician, as well as measuring and recording the patient's vital signs.

• The nurse guides the patient's family regarding the nature of the disease they are suffering from and how to deal with and care for them.
• The nurse teaches the patient how to take medications and how to take care of themselves so as not to suffer a health setback again.
• The nurse is responsible for recording all information about the patient such as (medical test results, vital sign measurement results, symptoms the patient is suffering from, and symptoms that have recently appeared on the patient).
• The nursing staff is considered the link between the doctor and the patient because they convey all health updates about the patient's condition to the doctor so that the doctor can make a proper diagnosis and prescribe the correct treatment.
• The nurse deals kindly with the patient to ease their pain and raise their morale.
• The nurse must maintain the patient's medical and personal secrets and respect professional secrecy.(1)

• Dealing with various burns and wounds, and methods of treating and caring for them.
• How to use medical devices.
• Sterilization methods and working to prevent the spread and transmission of infection.
• How to perform health isolation.
• Methods of administering medications in different ways.
• How to measure health indicators.
• Methods of giving various injections and installing an intravenous (IV) solution.
• How to provide intravenous nutrition to the patient.

Second: Personal skills necessary for success in the nursing profession

• Possessing qualities such as (patience, honesty, not disclosing patient secrets, and dealing with kindness and gentleness).
• The nurse must possess physical and health capacity because this profession is exhausting and often requires working for long periods and late hours.
• The ability to work under pressure and control nerves and personal feelings.
• Avoiding quick anger and stubbornness.
• The ability to work in a team and respect the opinions of others.
• Quick wit and the ability to use computers and modern technological means.(2)
